FAQ

How do I know if I really need to take Vitamins and/or Supplements?

Please understand that all your daily nutritional needs should be met by eating a variety of foods that is outlined in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. However, there are some cases where it is difficult to consume certain foods due to food allergies, scarcity, seasons, climate and weather changes, etc. This is where vitamins and/or supplements may help with providing your body the necessary nutrients that otherwise may be consumed less than the recommended amounts.

If you are already eating the recommended amounts of foods, you may not need to take any vitamins and/or dietary supplements.

Please note, that taking vitamins and/or supplements are not meant to be a replacement for a healthy diet.

How do I know which product(s) I should use?

The best way to find out which product(s) you should use in your lifestyle is to check with your healthcare professional. Your body’s need for vitamins and/or supplements depends on many factors such as:

Age – As you grow older, your body’s ability to absorb nutrients from foods are reduced, making it more difficult to reach the recommended nutrition amounts that your body may require.

Gender – Your body’s daily needs for nutrients depends on wether you are a woman or a man. Women have different nutrient needs and recommended amounts compared to mens bodily needs.

Health and Lifestyle – Only you and your healthcare professional will be able to determine if certain vitamins and/or supplements are right for you. Your healthcare professional will know more accurately, on what your body lacks or needs; if anything. Some varying factors that may determine if you need vitamins and/or dietary supplements are:

How many meals to you have per day?

Is your diet restricted? That is, do you not eat meat, milk, gluten products, etc.?

How may servings of fruits and vegetables do you typically ingest per day?

Without wanting to, have you lost/gained weight over the past 6 months?

Do you take any prescribed or over-the-counter medicine? How much per day?

Do you consume alcohol? How much and how often per week?

Do you smoke or are around others who do? How often?

Genetics – A family history of possible health issues may appear more apparent in your body’s health needs. Knowing if there are any possible genetic health issues from your family lineage and consulting with your healthcare professional will help determine what your body’s nutrition needs are.

Should I talk to my healthcare professional about taking vitamins and/or dietary supplements?

Absolutely! We encourage you to consult and work together with your healthcare professional in determining if certain vitamins and/or supplements are right for you.

If you are already taking vitamins and/or supplements, you should inform your healthcare professional as well so that they have a more accurate understanding of what you may or may not need.

Where can I find additional information regarding vitamins and/or supplements?
